Fraud as a national priority

Fraud is the most common crime in the UK today. An estimated 43 million adults in the UK have encountered scams online and, with the rapid rise of AI, we expect this will turbocharge fraud attempts. Targeted attacks against consumers are often perpetrated by organised crime groups that fund terrorism, human trafficking and drugs.

For every week the government fails to take action on fraud, we lose over £20m to fraudsters and organised crime groups.*

Keir Starmer’s government must tackle the scams epidemic and make fighting fraud a national priority. It must lead a clear strategy to stop organised crime online and focus on fraud as a fundamental part of the UK’s wider crime strategy.

Sign our Stamp out Scams petition if you agree – together we can work towards a future without fraud.

*These are estimated figures based on £1.1bn being lost to scams every year.
